COOPERATION AGREEMENT  BETWEEN THE LEBANESE GOVERNEMENT

AND THE SOVEREIGN ORDER OF MALTA


 

During the official visit of the Grand Master to Lebanon, a Cooperation agreement for humanitarian and health issues was signed by the Order's Grand Chancellor Jean-Pierre Mazery and the Lebanese Foreign Minister Faouzi Salloukh on October 28th, 2009. 

 

Published in the official bulletin issue nbr.39 of the 25th of August 2010, under the nbr.140, the agreement was enforced on the 12th of November 2012. 

 

Aware of their mutual commitment for the respect of human dignity, peace, freedom, equality, rule of law, human rights, solidarity and justice, the purpose of this agreement is to support, facilitate, diversify, develop and put into action the humanitarian and health cooperation between the Lebanese government and the Sovereign Order of Malta. 

 

 

RELATIONS WITH THE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC HEALTH


The Order of Malta Lebanon remains one of the four NGOs permanent representatives with the "Joint Commission" (Ministry of Public Health and NGOs operating in Lebanon) in charge of implementing the "Primary Health Care" Program. 

 

A total of 170 Medical centers in Lebanon are part of this program, created following the World Health Organization's recommendations. 6 of the Order of Malta Lebanon's SMCs are subscribed to it and have been classified amongst the 12 first Centers following the yearly key performance classification by the Ministry of Health. 

 

The official representative of the Order of Malta Lebanon to the Ministry of Public Health, who is also one of the three NGO representatives in the above mentioned "Joint Commission", has also been appointed as a member in the Supervision Committtee in charge of the "Chronic Medical Drugs" program managed by the YMCA for the Ministry of Public Health.
